Requires 灾厄黑龙与谎言公主 (Steam, version 1.0, Windows).

Find the game folder: right-click the game in your Steam Library, then Manage → Browse local files. It contains dragon.exe and a game folder.
In the zip, open its game folder and copy the tl folder inside it into the game's own game folder. Copy the whole tl folder, not the files inside it. The patch only adds game\tl\english, so nothing is overwritten.
Check that this file now exists, next to the game's archive.rpa: game\tl\english\zz_en_mod.rpy. If it ended up in game\game\tl\english, it is one level too deep and the game will not load it.
Start the game. It runs in English automatically.

Note: if the game is installed under Program Files and Windows blocks the copy, confirm the administrator prompt.

Important: do not copy the patch files loose into the game folder. They share names with the game's own scripts and will stop the game from starting. If that happened, reinstall the game (back up game\saves first) and follow the steps above.

To uninstall: delete the folder game\tl\english. The game returns to Chinese, and your saves are not affected.

About This Translation

This patch lets you play The Black Dragon and The Lying Princess (灾厄黑龙与谎言公主), the visual novel by Meiye Studio, in English. The game has no official English release. Everything is translated: every route and ending, the side story, all 162 choices, about 15,500 lines of story, plus the menus, character profiles, the developers' commentary, the credits and the ending theme lyrics.

The translation was made with AI and then edited and checked by me. I have only briefly playtested it, so not every route and screen has been checked in game, and you may still find the odd awkward line. If you do, please let me know.

A Japanese translation is in the works and is coming soon.

What This Patch Covers

The whole game in English: story, choices, menus, tooltips, Plot Recall, the gallery and the credits.
Redrawn interface images: buttons, screen titles, the character profile cards and the opening notice now show English.
Official names: Cynthia, Herzel, Norbera and Andrew follow the developer's own English spellings.
A voice for every character: each speaker has their own way of talking, and every line was translated with its scene and speaker in view.
Natural English that fits the text box: no forced line breaks, and choices sized to fit their buttons.
Name your heroine: the default name is Cynthia, or type your own of up to 12 characters.
